Meet Dr. Messner

Dr Gregory Messner is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery he comes from Houston where he completed his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the world renowned Texas Heart Institute under the direction of Dr Denton Cooley.

He also completed a fellowship in Cardiac Transplant and Mechanical Assist Devices under the direction of OH Frazier where he participated in one the first implants of the Abiocor total Artificial Heart. While he was there he was fortunate enough to be trained in endovascular surgery by Dr Zvonimir Krajcer and Dr Neil Strickman.

Dr Messner has been in practice since 2006 and has performed over 6400 interventions.

Dr Messner has a large referral base all over the metroplex and in neighboring states an has a reputation for making the complex cases look simple by modifying and applying the principles Dr Denton Cooley taught him years ago. He sees many patients for a second opinion from multiple locations that were told their conditions were inoperable.

Dr Messner has been involved in the outpatient management of peripheral artery disease since 2015 using the same principles he learned from Dr Krajcer  

and Dr Strickman and applying them to the outpatient setting where he performs procedures with no overnight stay tailored to the needs of the patients more efficiently and with less expense than the traditional hospital setting where they are cared for by an expert staff that focuses on the needs of the patient and their families.

Dr Messner has been featured in Trademark “Top Doctors of America” for vascular and endovascular surgery and “Best Doctors in Dallas” as voted by his peers for D Magazine. He has written numerous articles and presented nationally and multiple times he has trained physicians both locally and internationally and lectures both locally and internationally.
